Snackfest Teen {Game Day Party}

*This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Rubbermaid and Sharpie but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #RubbermaidSharpie  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO
I have to admit right off the bat,
that I am not a fan of Super Bowl parties.
It's a bit like inviting a bunch of people over
when all you want to do is watch a really good movie.
Don't judge, I'm not always selfish. I just like to watch the game AND the commercials!

Our 2 teenagers don't mind having friends over during the game.
I needed a plan to be able to feed them snacks, and where they
would be self-sufficient. You know, where Mom isn't working in the kitchen the entire time.

The Popcorn Bar I served at my daughter's Birthday party was such a hit, I decided to do a "Savory" version.
I found this awesome set of Rubbermaid food storage containers at Target. There are so many differing sizes in this box, I just couldn't resist. They also come with easy to find lids
that snap onto the bottom. Brilliant!
These would work great for the toppings!
When it comes to toppings, let your imagination run wild.
These are what I came up with:
cheez its, gorgonzola crackers, wasabi peas,
crumbled bacon, roasted pecans, and cheddar cheese cubes.
For the seasonings:
grated parmesan, ranch dressings mix, chili powder,
garlic salt, pepper, seasoned salt, italian seasoning,
and cayenne pepper.
I left some of the seasonings in their shakers and set them in the top portion of my 3 tiered stand. I put lots of extra popcorn packs to be microwaved in the middle, and brown paper lunch bags in the bottom portion to hold the popcorn creations.
I used this galvanized Ice bucket to hold the popcorn
and threw in a big scoop!

If you'd like to see more of the Chalkboard Wall I painted
in our Dining Room niche, click here.
I purchased a 4-pack set of Sharpies also while at Target so the teens can "put their mark" on their popcorn lunch bags.
It's a "help yourself" popcorn snack buffet.
1. Write your name on the lunch sack
2. Fill with popcorn
           3. Add your favorite toppings and seasonings
I used brown kraft paper as my buffet runner.
I basically tore off as much as I needed
and then tore the edges to fit my buffet.

The Sharpies also came in handy to actually label the popcorn snack toppings as well as give instructions
for "marking" the water bottles by writing their names.
Yes, you must pick your team! I pre-wrapped some water bottles with duct tape that coordinated with the competing team colors.
(I also found the duct tape at Target)
There is no switching of teams mid-game at our house!
Now, I'll be able to watch the game
while the teenagers enjoy some "help yourself" snacks
at our Savory Popcorn Bar!

Plus, the clean up will be easy peasy!
Snap the lids on! and put away!!

Now for some good news for YOU!
Beginning on January 25-February 8, 2014 Target is offering
you a $1 off coupon for any Rubbermaid food storage item
and $1 off coupon for any Sharpie 4-pack or larger.

These coupons are only available via text.
Pretty cool, huh? Here's the how-to:

On your phone, type in TARGET where the phone number goes
then in the message part, type COUPONS

Target will send you a text with a link to sign up for mobile text coupons. After agreeing to the terms, a few minutes later I received a whole list of coupons for various items including the Rubbermaid and Sharpie offers.

What an easy and convenient way to save at one of my favorite stores.....Target!

    1. Thank you Gretchen! I'm sure there are so many more toppings that would be tasty too, and that's the fun of it, right? I'd put blue cheese in mine, but my kids are not a fan! Thanks so much for stopping by!

    1. Hey Sara! I'm hoping it will be a good game! I especially like to watch the commercials, so I'm not too friendly or chatty. If it gets boring, I'll be switching to a movie channel! xoxo

    1. Thanks Michelle! I so love the flexibility of that chalkboard wall! My son found those plays online, and hubby studied them and said they weren't quite right, like not the correct number of players, etc. So don't study them too closely!!! lol

  11. I'm with you. A super bowl party just ruins the game. A teen snack station is a great idea!
